Lumonics Promotes Joe Maher to
VP & GM of Wilmington, MA Facility |

Kanata, ON & Wilmington, MA — GSI
Lumonics Inc. (Nasdaq: GSLI and TSE: LSI) announces
the promotion of Joseph A. Maher, Jr., to Vice President
and General Manager of Semiconductor and Electronics
Circuit Trim business units, located in the company’s
Wilmington, MA facility. Maher, who brings 30 years
of semiconductor experience to GSI Lumonics, is chartered
with pushing forward new product development efforts
and increasing overall plant efficiency.
Maher’s
range of responsibilities includes overseeing and directing
all aspects of product development, marketing, sales,
and manufacturing for the company’s flagship
Wilmington operation. By managing these activities,
he will ensure that well-targeted products are released
to customers on time, that inventory is kept in check,
and that the Wilmington factory runs at its most efficient
capacity.
“Advancing the product offerings and
internal processes at Wilmington is well underway,” states
Maher. “I believe that the developments
now in process will bring GSI Lumonics out of the downturn
in a position of renewed strength.”
Maher joined GSI Lumonics in June of 2001 as General
Manager of the Wilmington facility. Prior to his GM
position with the company, Maher held senior executive
positions at Asyst Automation in Wilmington and MKS
Instruments in Andover. He was also Executive Vice
President and Co-Founder of Drytek Corporation, which
placed 11th on the industry’s prestigious “VLSI
Top Ten Semiconductor Equipment Companies” list.
Maher holds an engineering degree from Northwestern
University.
