| Asymtek Introduces
Fast No-Flow Underfill Jetting |
|
Carlsbad, CA — Asymtek introduces additional
non-contact methods for jetting no-flow underfill fluids. Using
the company’s award winning non-contact DispenseJet® pump,
underfill can be jetted more quickly than traditional
needle dispensing in a variety of production applications.
The process is an addition to Asymtek’s other
methods of dispensing no-flow underfill materials.
Dramatic
cuts in time spent dispensing can be achieved. With
the fastest jetting method — dots
on the fly or line mode — dispense time is cut
in half when compared to traditional needle dispensing.
Further benefits are realized from the non-contact
features of the system, such as no touching of the
board and no required underboard support.
Asymtek’s DispenseJet® pump,
typically used for jetting surface mount adhesive in
printed circuit board assemblies, has been adapted
to jet no-flow underfill fluids. These no-flow jetting
methods include shooting, dots on the fly, and jetting
lines with patented co-axial air assist.
The company
has been working with leading no-flow underfill fluid
suppliers to develop applications that can be used
in a variety of production environments.
When jetting
the no-flow underfill, the DispenseJet® pump
traverses a small distance (typically 1mm) above the
board. The jet shoots the fluid onto the location. Depending
on the accuracy and speed required in production, either
in-line dots or lines are jetted. Asymtek recommends
contacting their Applications Engineering Group before
selecting a fluid appropriate for this process.
No-flow
underfill material is used for enhancing the reliability
of products containing flip chips and CSPs (chip scale
packages) on printed circuit boards. Using
no-flow underfill allows more flexibility in board
design, as less space is required between the component
requiring underfill and adjacent passive components.
The
DispenseJet® pump can be used on all Asymtek’s
fluid dispensing systems, including the Century® C-718
and the MillenniumÒ M-2010. It is ideally
suited for the newly introduced Axiom™ X-1010
dispensing system.Asymtek supplies award-winning automated
fluid dispensing systems to the semiconductor, surface
mount, electronics packaging and industrial markets.
